BLUE JAY PILGRIMS JOURNEY TO D.C. FOR ANNUAL MARCH FOR LIFE
Twenty members of the Jesuit High School Pro-Life Club have made their way to Washington D.C. for the annual March for Life. Now in the second year after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade, the march is a particularly important witness to the continued progress to fight for the life and dignity of all people. The theme of this year’s march is “Pro-life: With Every Woman, For Every Child” - emphasizing the importance to love and support all mothers and children. The Blue Jay pilgrims will visit many churches in the D.C. area, including the National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, as well as hear a presentation from the scholars at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. On Friday, January 19th, the Jays will march alongside the crowd of nearly 500,000 gathered on the National Mall to pray and fight for the dignity of all human life.
BOWLING STRIKES FIRST: DEFEATS CENTRAL LAFOURCHE IN OPENING MATCH
Behind the near pin-perfect performance of Nicholas Womble, Joseph Anderson, and Jonathan Cho, the Jesuit Bowling team defeated equally talented Central Lafourche in the opening match of the 2024 season. Womble got things started with a 279 opening game and closed the three game series with a pin total of 671. That proved to be too much for Central Lafourche to make up and despite their best efforts the Trojans were denied a chance of victory as Anderson added 708 series and Cho closed with a 622. The Jays take on Destrehan next on Tuesday, January 22.

“SNOW DAY” EXTENDS LONG MLK WEEKEND AS ARCTIC BLAST HITS MID-CITY
Will extended weekends become the norm? For the second week in a row, an inclement weather event forced Jays to stay home during the school week. This time an arctic blast hit the New Orleans area dropping temperatures into the 20’s early Tuesday morning. With bridges, including the Causeway, closed due to icy conditions, schools across the city were closed for the day. Despite the frigid conditions, the Jays spirits were warmed by the upcoming events that are sure to bring excitement back to Carrollton and Banks. These include the Wrestling district championship, a home basketball game against district rival Holy Cross, and the Winter Sports pep rally.
