Four Day Forecast: "Snow" Day Extends Long Weekend
Jesuit High School, along with all Archdiocesan schools, were closed Tuesday due to inclement weather.
Today, Tuesday, January 16th, Jesuit is closed due to inclement weather conditions and concerns for the safety of the students and faculty, and many students have been left wondering what this means for their school week. Most students are joyous at the prospect of more time off and are especially excited that this adds to the already elongated weekend of Martin Luther King Day. Some students, however, are left wondering whether we will have to make up this missed school later in the year.
Student body president, Luke Couret, stated that the E-Board wouldn’t let the missed days delay their preparations for future big events like the wrestling dual against Brother Martin and the Winter Sports pep rally. “We’re not going to let the cold weather cool the Gizzard. You can expect big things for tomorrow’s dual against Brother Martin,” said Couret.
This “Snow Day” comes quickly after the half-schedule day on Monday of last week. All of these missed days (and possibly more with the continued weather conditions) remind some of the multiple days missed due to Hurricane Ida in 2021, where the missed days had to be made up over the school year.
Resident weather expert, Phil Lundgren, said that we can expect the cold weather to last the rest of the day, but that the temperature should warm as the week continues. Checking the WJHS “Accu-Weather” radar, we’re seeing warmer temperatures Wednesday and into the weekend. Perfect weather to pack the Benson arena.”
However, not many days this school year have been missed, so the possibility of extra days is low. Either way, many students are still very happy that they get an even longer weekend, and, in a historic moment for the southern states, might even get some snow nearby.
