WITNESS TO GOD’S LOVE: STUDENTS VENERATE RELICS OF ST. JEAN DE BREUF, S.J.
On February 19, the skull of St. Jean de Brebéuf, S.J. along with several significant relics of the North American Martyrs were generously brought to Carrollton and Banks for a Lenten reflection and veneration. The relics were presented in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs and were visited and venerated by students during Theology classes. There also was public veneration and then reflected upon by Fr. John Brown, S.J. who talked about the “true devotion of the North American Martyrs.” St. Jean de Brebéuf’s was martyred in 1649, and his remains were initially buried with the Hurons, to whom he dedicated his life to spreading Christian faith, but turmoil caused the remains to be moved and eventually were buried in Sainte-Marie near the Hurons in present-day Ontario.

JAYS TO STRAWBERRY: SOCCER TO STATE TITLE GAME
The Jays didn't start the season as hoped, suffering a 1-0 loss to Willow School. Despite this setback, they rallied, boasting a remarkable 20-2-1 record and securing the top seed in the LHSAA playoffs. Their journey to the state championship includes a rematch against Catholic High of Baton Rouge, with whom they drew 1-1 earlier in the season. Victories over Destrehan and Brother Martin set the stage for a quarterfinal win against St. Amant. In the semifinals, Jesuit faced Dutchtown, prevailing 1-0 with an Adien Obletz header. Now, they're headed to Strawberry Stadium in Hammond, LA, for the final showdown. Students can support the team by joining the spirit bus and grabbing exclusive "Jays to Strawberry" t-shirts. Good luck, Jays!
MISSION DRIVE 2024: NEW ORLEANS TO KYRGYZSTAN
The Mission Drive is set to support the Jesuit mission in Kyrgyzstan and its efforts to assist the local Christian community. The annual Lenten Mission Drive is all about making sacrifices, giving back, and finding renewal in the love of Christ. This year the drive hopes to raise $15,000 to support both the Kyrgyzstan mission and the local Harry Thompson Center. Campus Ministry will host various events throughout Lent, including Friday bread fasts, Fresh Kick Fridays collections, and a Teacher Silent Auction. As Mr. Miraflor, S.J., summed up, “The Mission Drive is intrinsically focused outward on serving others. In this way, the Mission Drive helps to show the whole of the Lenten spirit and uniting oneself to Christ.” For more details, visit the Campus Ministry Office.
