What Kind of Glory Do You Seek?
Dr. Jeremy Reuther '01 delivers his opening Principal's Address to the student body at Morning Assembly.
“What kind of glory do you seek?” With this question, Dr. Reuther opened his first address of the new school year at Thursday’s special Morning Assembly. Glory, he explained, is often misunderstood—especially in the context of the school’s motto: Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam—for the greater glory of God.
Dr. Reuther urged the Jays not to seek their own glory, but to “relentlessly pursue God’s greater glory” in all things. His words were especially fitting on the feast of St. Maximilian Kolbe, who, as Mr. Colin McGiver, the new Director of Evangelization, reminded the assembly, selflessly gave his life for a fellow prisoner in Auschwitz. Despite the heat and humidity, Thursday’s assembly proved to be a good start for a year dedicated to pursuing God’s glory.
