ITE AD JOSEPH: JESUIT HOME TO ANNUAL ST. JOSEPH’S ALTAR
With St. Patrick’s day in the rearview, all attention was turned to St. Joseph this week as Jesuit played host to the annual St. Joseph’s altar located in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs. The event, held from March 17-19, allowed attendees to pray and receive St. Joseph medals or rosaries, organized by Fr. Jon Polce, S.J., with items collected by the Kelly family. Garrett Kelly delivered a moving speech about his lifelong connection to St. Joseph and his contributions to the altar since childhood. Students assisted in baking cookies for the altar during exam week, further enhancing the festivities. This tradition harks back to Sicilian practices, with the altar adorned in traditional items including baked goods, fruits, and cookies. The food is then donated to local charities and food banks.

BASEBALL IN FULL SWING: YOUNG JAYS KEEP THE BATS MOVING
It’s not easy to replace 13 varsity athletes, but to replace state champion varsity athletes is near impossible. Not so for the Blue Jay baseball team as they have begun their season with impressive victories, including a 12-0 triumph over Terrebonne and a 7-4 win against Belle Chasse. Despite a setback against St. Augustine, Jesuit rebounded with a 12-3 victory against the Purple Knights. Recent wins against Seattle Prep and De La Salle have propelled the team to a 10-6 overall record with a 1-1 district record. With their blend of young talent and determination, Jesuit looks poised for continued success as they go deeper into district play.
MCJROTC HONORS MR. KERNION `90 AT PARADE AND REVIEW
Each year the MCJROTC honors a distingueshed member of the faculty at its annual Parade and Review. This year, Mr. Peter Kernion, class of 1990 and principal for the last 11 years, was honored by the cadets. Fr. Brown, S.J. praised Mr. Kernion for his 28 years of service to Jesuit High School including his time as an English teacher, cross country coach, and assistant principal - where he was pivotal in keeping Jesuit afloat during Hurricane Katrina. The annual Parade and Review dates back to when all Blue Jays were enrolled in the ROTC and performed the traditional military drills and formations in the schoolyard.

AVE CRUX, SPES UNICA: STUDENTS PRAY THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS
As Lent nears its end and anticipation builds for Holy Week, Jesuit students prayed the the Stations of the Cross this Friday during theology classes. Held in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs, a longstanding campus tradition, the event provided students with the opportunity for the Sacrament of Confession, with visiting priests from the archdiocese joining Jesuit's clergy. The entire community is invited to experience a deeper reflection on the Way of the Cross during the Nine Churches Walk on Good Friday.
