WRESTLERS TAKE DOWN LOCAL COMPETITION IN DUAL MEETS
To be the best, you have to beat the best. This has been the modus operandi for Coach Jon Orillion and the Blue Jay wrestling team throughout much of the opening of the season as they traveled to prestigious national tournaments. However, as the weather grows colder, the Jays turned their attention to defending their home turf. This week saw the team take on top ranked rival Holy Cross in a dual meet held on their turf. Fueled by the Gizzard, the hostile setting was easily overcome, as the Jays secured the victory in dominating fashion. In the lightweight division, the Jays prevailed. Junior Bodi Harris secured a major decision, sophomore JP Webre triumphed with an 8-3 decision, and Matthew Krail added to the tally with a technical fall victory. Freshman Isaac Orillion affirmed his dominance in the 144-pound class, securing a decisive win over Gunner Guidry. The Jays concluded with three impressive pins in the final matches, courtesy of Patrick Matthews, Jackson Calderaro, and Cam Himel. The stage is now set for the rematch at the prestigious Louisiana Classic tournament this weekend.
