LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL: KING CAKE BABY LEADS PARADE IN TRADITIONS COURTYARD
In what will likely go down as the greatest event in the annals of Student Council history, the King Cake Baby graced the Blue Jay community with his presence this Thursday for the annual King Cake Party. The Baby arrived at the start of lunch with many Pelican themed throws in tow. He began his route in the Commons before making his way to the Traditions Courtyard. There he was joined by the Blue Jay band where he led a second line through the king cake party. With the Baby, the music, and the king cake, it was easy to let the good times roll.

FROM BANKS TO BACCHUS: BLUE JAY BAND MARCHES ON
One week after leading the Carrollton parade down the Uptown route, the Blue Jay Band will march in Bacchus this Sunday. The Blue Jay musicians, lead by Mr. Joe Caluda ‘79 and Mr. Jason “Maestro” Giaccone, are always busy this time of year. In addition to the marching band’s dual parade performances, the Jazz Band typically performs in Mid City and MCJROTC Band plays in both Hermes and Knights of Sparta. Be sure to check out the Blue Jays in the parades this weekend.

RETURN OF THE KING: LANOSGA, CALDERARO, AND HARRIS LEAD WRESTLING TO SECOND STRAIGHT STATE TITLE
This past weekend the wrestling team competed in the LHSAA Division 1 State Championship, capping off a great season a second straight State Title. In a total team effort, the Jays scored 321 total points, out scoring second place Holy Cross by 40 points. That total was the highest in school history and ranks as the fourth most point scored in LHSAA Division 1 history. Placing 13 out of 14 Blue Jays placed in the top six, and with 8 finalists and 3 champions, the team sealed the victory early in the tournament. At the 120 pound weight class, junior Bodi Harris won his second state title. At 215, senior Jackson Calderaro pinned his way to his first title. Finally at heavyweight, senior Spencer Lanosga became Jesuit’s tenth ever three-time State Champ. Congratulations Coach Orillion and the Blue Jay wrestlers!
STAYING “PRAYED UP”: SODALITY MAKES PLAN FOR LENT
With Mardi Gras in full force, it can be easy to forget about making preparations for the upcoming liturgical season of Lent. That is why at this Wednesday’s total Sodality meeting Fr. Polce, S.J. impressed upon the Sodalists the importance of staying ready to serve the Lord. The meeting centered around different practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving the grade level Sodalities would participate in this Lent. Some of the practices included a weekly walking rosary, giving up comforts like hot showers, and serving the homeless at Grace at the Greenlight. Even if you are not currently in Sodality, but would like to join the Sodalists this Lent, please see Fr. Polce, S.J. or Mr. Miraflor, S.J. in the Campus Ministry Office.

The top-seeded Jesuit soccer team defeated No. 17 Brother Martin in a grueling clash on Wednesday. It was defensive battle all game until the Jays broke late in extra time, sealing a 2-0 victory at Farley Field in Gentilly. The decisive moment arrived in the 91st minute, as Quinn Grandbouche capitalized on Mateo Mencos' pinpoint assist, smashing a header past Brother Martin's keeper. Aidan Obletz added another quick strike to put the game out of reach for the Crusaders. Jesuit will face St. Amant in the quarterfinals next week.
