LET THE GAMES BEGIN: WELCOME WEEK BRINGS OLYMPICS TO CARROLLTON AND BANKS
Olympic representatives from the Pantheon of Jesuit’s illustrious faculty, Coach Jennings and Mrs. Jennings, opened the games of the 2024 Welcome Week. They were quickly followed by the “lighting” of the olympic torch and rising speech from student body president Wilson Frischhertz. The games began with equestrian riding and jousting in the courtyard; and archery and javelin on Will Clark Field. Welcome Week concluded with an epic dunk contest in the courtyard. But, that does not mean the student council is taking labor day weekend off. Next week the student council will host the annual Back to School Dance at Jesuit.

MORE THAN A SCRIMMAGE: JESUIT FOOTBALL IS BACK
The Jays faced Mandeville High in a Friday night scrimmage, showcasing their potential under junior quarterback Taylor Norton. Despite missing some starters, the team demonstrated a balanced passing and running game, hinting at a promising season. Falling behind 7-0, the Jays' resilience shone through with a successful touchdown. The defense also performed well, giving valuable reps to second and third-string players. With an upcoming jamboree against Northshore and a key rivalry game against Jesuit Dallas, the Jays' revamped offense and strong coaching by Coach Manale could lead to a successful season, especially in the Catholic League.

GUIDED BY WISDOM: MASS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT OPENS ACADEMIC YEAR
On Friday, August 30, Jesuit High School students, faculty, and staff gathered in the Benson Arena to celebrate the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit. Despite the change in location, this tradition, which dates back to 1548 at the first Jesuit school in Messina, Sicily, remains a cornerstone of Jesuit education, marking the start of the academic year with a powerful spiritual focus. The Mass of the Holy Spirit is more than just a tradition; it is a moment for the entire school community to come together in prayer, seeking the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit as they embark on a new year of learning, growth, and service.
