CHECKMATE: FR. POLCE, S.J., CROWNED NEW KING OF CHESS
They say that chess is “the game of kings” and after this year’s Mission Drive chess tournament, Jesuit now has a new “king” of chess on campus. Fr. Polce, S.J, defeated two-time defending champion Chad York to take the crown in the charity chess tournament that helped raised money for the people of Kyrgyzstan. Two finalists battled their way through the campus wide bracket knowing that each would await the other if all went to chalk. Despite his defeat, Chad remained in good spirits and looks to reclaim his title next year. Congratulations to both Fr. Polce and Chad York!

SOCIETY SURPRISE: SODALISTS THROW GOODBYE PARTY TO DEPARTING JESUITS
The Blue Jay community will say goodbye to three Jesuits this year as Fr. Polce, S.J., Fr. Kramer, S.J., and Mr. Miraflor, S.J., will depart for their new assignments. But before the three members of the Society of Jesus left Carrollton and Banks, the Sodality of the Immaculate Conception had a plan to properly honor the beloved Jesuits. Under the guise of an important lunchtime meeting, the sodalists secretly planned a surprise party, coordinating their efforts with the advancement team and Fr. Brown, S.J. The three Jesuits were indeed shocked when, instead of walking into a meeting, they were greeted by man students and an entire table of cakes. Thank you to Fr. Polce, Fr. Kramer, and Mr. Miraflor for all that you have done and continue to do here at Jesuit.
