Prepare the Way of the Lord

Campus Ministry launches a new YouTube series to help students prepare for Christmas during the Advent season.

For the first time in the high school’s history, Jesuit’s Campus Ministry has undertaken to record and publish a YouTube Series featuring Advent reflections.  In the series, Campus Ministry Director Mr. Jeff Miraflor, S.J. opines on the necessities of the Advent Season, such as redirecting one’s energy dissipated amidst the hustle and bustle of the so-called secularized “holiday” season, and turning one’s heart to the quiet of prayer to prepare for the coming of the Lord.  

But why take the traditional advent message to the YouTube platform?  As Campus Ministry director Mr. Miraflor, puts it, Jesuit high school students are apt to be absorbed in the “app”—not just in Advent, but perhaps especially so as an escape from the hectic exam preparations.  By publishing the reflections on YouTube, Jesuit’s Campus Ministry hopes to gain an already captive audience.  

But besides this angle, the videos provide a contemplative spirit through music and images that other media just cannot convey.   Newsprint does indeed have its limitations.  So stop reading this article and pull up the YouTube series located on the Jesuit Student Life YouTube page.
