High Hopes for Cross Country
After a historic win in College Station, the Jays have gained national recognition.
On Friday, September 19, the Jesuit Cross Country team achieved an outstanding victory at the Nike South 2025 in College Station, Texas. The Jays competed against a handful of schools from Louisiana and a plethora of teams from Texas. Following three consecutive Cross Country State Championships, this impressive win is by no means a surprise, but it has solidified Jesuit as a force to be reckoned with, even on the national level.
Individual results for the meet included three top ten finishers for the Jays in the 5K. Senior Brady Monohan placed third with a time of 15:11.6. Seniors Connor Fanberg and Joe Accardo placed eighth and ninth with times of 15:30.3 and 15:31.2, respectively. Juniors David Quintana and Andrew Nimmo finished in the top twenty, in addition to key contributions from Rhys Grant and PJ Fitzmorris. Jesuit ended the meet with a team score of 44, distancing themselves from second place by almost 100 points.
Jesuit has become accustomed to winning on the state level in the past few years, but this victory is very encouraging, as the Jays faced tough competition from Texas, a state notorious for its athletic prowess. After not only defeating but dominating in College Station, the Jays are currently ranked number four in the entire country. With high hopes for the rest of the season, Jesuit Cross Country appears to be well on their way to a fourth straight state title.
