Friday Night Hoops: Jesuit Takes Down Curtis
The Blue Jays continue their hot start as the team improves to 3-0 in district play.
It is easy for fans to get excited or dejected through the first few games of any season. Overreactions, both positive and negative, are on the top of everyone’s mind. However, through 22 games, the 19-3 Blue Jays, built on hustle, hard work, and selfless play, have proven the hype is real. Improving to 3-0 in district play, the Jays took down rival John Curtis 46-41 on their home court this Friday.
Last season, the Patriots were able to get the best of Jesuit in both games the teams played. That would not be the case this year. The Jays saw an early spark from Brennan Pitts' who had a fastbreak score off a steal. However, the half ended tied and John Curtis even took a two point lead at the end of the third. The fourth quarter is where things began to heat up. John Curtis was not going to let the Jays come in and take the win easily. However, Brewer Nitcher, scored six points in the fourth quarter, to help seal the win. Nichter finished 20 points and 15 rebounds.
In the end, Jesuit secured the victory, maintaining their first-place standing in District 9-5A with a record of 19-3 (3-0). Looking ahead, they face another tough district matchup against Brother Martin.
