Brady Mullen Leads Jays to District Championship
Blue Jay Cross Country defends title in stellar team effort.
Demonstrating their commitment to athletic excellence, Jesuit’s cross country team, the defending district champions, once again showcased their prowess. The Jays came into the race knowing they would have to have a total team effort to secure the victory with standout junior Leeland Crawford sidelined with knee tendonitis.
“We’re making progress. You know we come out everyday and know what we are capable of doing.”
Junior Brady Mullen led the way, taking the lead from the start and never relinquishing it. He was quickly followed by freshman Brady Monahan with senior Lucas Sampedro breaking up rival Brother Martin’s lead pack and their chance of a surprise victory.
Mullen officially clocked a 3-mile time of 14:46, with Monahan, taking second in 15:11.
Despite the close finsih with Brother Martin in the team race, Mullen emphasized that “we’re making progress. You know we come out everyday and know what we are capable of doing.”

Next on the agenda for all 9-5A teams is the regional meet November 3, at City Park, followed by the state meet on Monday, November 13, in Natchitoches.
