Blue Jay of the Month: Wilson Frischhertz
Student body president Wilson Frischhertz brings the blue jay spirit to all that he does.
Senior Wilson Frischhertz is the president of the student body here at Jesuit, and he is the perfect person to fill that role. Wilson is the embodiment of “Blue Jay Spirit.” Whether it is painting himself for football games, starting chants in the Gizzard, helping to build basketball courts in Guatemala (while his leg was in a cast), or raising over 200 dollars to buy Guatemalan kids a Lego set, Wilson truly shows what it means to be a Blue Jay.
I had the opportunity to ask Wilson some important questions about his career as a Jay, and these questions, along with his answers, are listed below.
Q: Why did you choose Jesuit specifically as your high school? Are you still glad you picked it?
A: Initially, I selected Jesuit due to its strong reputation and the success of its lacrosse team. Little did I know of the life-changing decision I made. I am beyond grateful for choosing Jesuit and could not even imagine myself going to another school. Jesuit has been the absolute perfect fit for me, and I love everything about it. From my classmates and teammates to my teachers and coaches, this school has helped me become the best version of myself, and I will always be thankful for the traditions and community that foster this incredible environment.
Q: How has being a Blue Jay affected your life?
A: Being a Blue Jay has profoundly transformed my life. In fact, I would say that being a Blue Jay defines my life. There are countless qualities associated with the identity of a Blue Jay. While people from other schools might think being a Blue Jay simply means attending Jesuit High School, we know it encompasses much more. It signifies being a person of character and virtue, someone who strives to improve every day and grow continuously. Most importantly, being a Blue Jay means dedicating everything to the greater glory of God. These are the values I aim to uphold and will continue to embrace throughout my life. I take great pride in being a Blue Jay and work to embody these principles every day.
Q: What have been some of your favorite classes or teachers here at Jesuit?
A: I have truly enjoyed a wide variety of classes here at Jesuit, and I am incredibly grateful for all the teachers and faculty. The educators here genuinely invest their time, effort, and enthusiasm into their students, which has played a significant role in shaping who I am today. I particularly enjoy my science and religion classes, as I believe these subjects complement each other perfectly. The more I learn about the intricate design of the human body; the more my faith is strengthened. It’s clear to me that such complexity could only arise from a perfect mind, a transcendent being. The universe’s remarkable intricacies demonstrate just how intelligent and loving our God is.
All of my teachers have been exceptionally supportive and encouraging. Whenever I see them in the halls, they always take the time to greet me, highlighting the strong connections between faculty and students at Jesuit. One teacher who has particularly helped me grow in faith and virtue is Mr. Bacon. After I tore my ACL while winning a state championship, he reached out to me and invited me to daily Mass over the summer. This gesture lifted my spirits and brought me closer to God. I am forever grateful for our relationship and deeply appreciate all the support Mr. Bacon has provided throughout my time at Jesuit. Mr. Bacon has been instrumental in my journey toward virtue and holiness, helping me identify both my strengths and weaknesses to foster my growth as a man dedicated to others and to God.

Q: What have you valued most about your time here at Jesuit? What have been some of your favorite memories here?
A: During my time at Jesuit, I’ve experienced a wide range of emotions—from sadness to happiness and from anger to gratitude. The challenges we face here make our successes even more meaningful. I truly value the relationships I’ve built with faculty, classmates, and teammates. Some of my favorite memories are tied to winning state championships for Jesuit.
Since my freshman year, the lacrosse team always looks completely different from the start of the season compared to the state championship. Although the beginning can be frustrating, as we grow together, we become like a family, competing for one another. My freshman year, we lost to Catholic in the state championship, which ignited a determination in our team to never feel that defeat again. The following year, we defeated Catholic in overtime, a thrilling moment that validated all our hard work during the offseason. This past season, we once again faced Catholic in the state championship and secured the victory with a late goal.
These championship moments with my teammates have been among my most cherished memories at Jesuit. The satisfaction of seeing our hard work pay off, competing alongside my brothers for the greater glory of God, is what drives us to train so hard in the offseason.
Q: What made you decide to run for student body President?
A: When I decided to run for President, I couldn’t help but think back to my freshman year—the excitement, the traditions, the incredible energy that filled our school! I want every student to feel that same thrill. Being president comes with a lot of hard work, but when you love what you do, it never feels like work at all—and I truly love this school.
I’m committed to keeping the passion and school spirit alive that inspired me as an underclassman. I want to make sure every student knows they have the unwavering support of our amazing student section, the GIZZARD! From tennis matches to football games, every one of you matters here at Jesuit.
We all have unique gifts that deserve to be recognized and celebrated. This year, I’m dedicated to making sure every student feels appreciated and to igniting school spirit throughout our entire community. Let’s bring the energy! Go Jays!
Q: Finally, as student body President this year, do you have any exciting plans you want to share with us?
A: The student council has been working non-stop to ensure this school year is nothing short of amazing—full of hype, excitement, and enthusiasm! We recently unveiled the Ultimate Gizzard Champion Belt, the T-Shirt Cannon, and the trending Jayson hats! And these are just the beginning!
We’re excited to build off the energy from the epic pep rally for the Holy Cross game and continue getting hype for the rest of the fall sports! In addition, during winter, we’ll be hosting an NCAA 25 tournament in the commons.
There are so many more surprises in store for this year, but I don’t want to give everything away just yet. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. GO JAYS!!!
