Blue Jay of the Month: Patrick Berrigan

This issue’s Blue Jay of the Month is senior Patrick Berrigan. Barrelling through offensive lines, Berrigan’s toughness is on full display every gameday, but even beyond the gridirion Patrick is more than deserving as October’s Blue Jay of the Month .
Q: How is the year going so far?
With a tough schedule and a hard district in football, it is hard but very rewarding. Every day, we push ourselves to the limit, both mentally and physically. Our practices are tough, but it’s all part of the process.
Q: Why did you choose to come to Jesuit High School?
I live on the Northshore, so it takes almost an hour to get here every day, but it is definitely worth it. My decision to attend Jesuit High School is family tradition - my grandpa and my dad played football at Jesuit and l wanted to follow in their footsteps.
Q: What is the most important aspect of Jesuit High School in your eyes?
The people at Jesuit make it what it is. Just being around good people makes Jesuit a place that you would want to be. It’s the friends, teachers, coaches —the people - that is what sets this school apart.

Q: How have the people, coaches, teachers, and former classmates at Jesuit helped form you into the person you are today?
The people at Jesuit, including my coaches, teachers, and former classmates, have been a big part of my time here. The early morning practices have shown me that hard work and dedication can lead to great achievements.
Q: How has being in another sport helped you grow in leadership?
I remember when I was a sophomore learning from the seniors on the football and baseball teams about what it meant to be a leader. They showed me that being a leader is being there for your teammates, and understanding the responsibilities that come with it.
Q: Do you have any advice that you would like to give to new people starting their journey at Jesuit?
To the new students who are just starting out at Jesuit, I would say not to be afraid. You are going to be surrounded by a bunch of great people at Jesuit.
Q: What are your future plans after you finish at Jesuit?
I plan to either play baseball somewhere or become a pilot. I don’t know what college I am going to attend yet.
