Blue Jay Football: A Perfect Start
Jesuit football defeated E. D. White this past Friday to bring their record to an encouraging 3-0.
Jesuit football is off to a strong start in the early season, going 3-0 as they approach the beginning of district play. After defeating Northshore 17-10 in their first game, the Jays hit the road and shocked Jesuit Dallas, dominating 31-6 in a rematch against the Rangers. This past weekend, the Blue Jays returned home to face E. D. White under the lights at Tad Gormley.
Following two away games, Jesuit fans were eager to support their team, and Friday’s contest took place in front of a packed Gizzard. The Jays got off to a rough start as their first drive ended in a fumble recovery for a Cardinals touchdown. However, they quickly found their footing with a touchdown pass from quarterback Taylor Norton to receiver Benjamin Neff, tying the score at 7-7. After several tough drives for both teams, Jesuit leapt ahead with a field goal from kicker Ethan Cabos and two scores from running back Gavin Palmisano, including a clutch 30-yard touchdown run. For E. D. White’s final drive, the score was 24-21 as the Cardinals marched down the field. Fortunately, Jesuit’s defense came up with a crucial fourth-down stop to seal the game as a victory for the Jays.
Friday’s game was a fierce fight on both sides, but Jesuit showed impressive determination on their way to a win. The Jays will face the Bonnabel Bruins this week at Joe Yenni before a highly anticipated contest with Brother Martin. As Jesuit looks ahead to this year’s competition, they hope to carry the momentum of an undefeated start with them.
