1. Attempt to pick 2/3rds of the average guess!

   This question was the one that started this poll in the first place. I was very intrigued on how others would approach this. There are a few different ways to look at this question. For, instance you could go 2/3rds of the average of all the possible guesses (33.33) or you could go 2/3rds of 33.33 (22.22) in order to stay ahead of the pack. Anyway let’s see how the question played out and the right answer. The average was 33.789 which is crazy close to the 2/3rds of 50! That means the correct answer was 22.526. Only two people guessed between 22-23.

2. Attempt to pick a number that is between 10-20 numbers away from the average!

   I had know idea where this question would go. I assumed that people would be split evenly on both sides of 50 so basically everyone would win. My strategy was to pick a number that was 15 higher than the average to have some wriggle room. The average was 45.421 which is about what I expected having a number around 50. Thus, the answer was 25-35 and 55-65. 7 people were able to get that correct.

3. Attempt to pick the average!

   This question was pretty self-explanatory. I thought that everyone was going to pick 50 and move on. However, the guesses are surprisingly more sporadic. The guesses ranged from 3-99. Yet, the average was 47.474. So, the correct answer was 47-48. Only 1 person hit it directly with a guess of 47. Several got really close with a guess of 50.

4. Attempt to pick the least picked number!

   This question was another great one. I imagined that many were going to pick random numbers and that there was going to be about 2 matching pairs. However, the results are a bit more strange. Surprisingly, the most common digits were 1, 3, and 7 arranged in different orders. The only three numbers to be selected more than once were 50, 0, and 71 with 50 being selected 3 times! That means any other number was a valid answer.

5. Attempt to pick the greatest number that is less than the average!

   This question was all about how much are you willing to risk! One strategy is to pick one less than the average of all possible choices (5). This strategy is not a bad one, however, it turns out it was not the best. The average came out to be 5.737 which means 5 was actually the best option. There were 3 people that guessed 5 and 6 that guessed 4.

6. How many questions do you think you have gotten right so far?

   This question is by far the most unusual. It seems to have no point to it. Confidence is an interesting thing to measure especially if you have no clue what answer could be right. Additionally, there seems to be no reason to this question. Here is a question to think on: What was the most common answer? Looking back at it now did you pick the right choice?

7. Attempt to pick 4/3rds of the average guess!

   This question was more of a filler for the grand finale, question 8. Anyway, I looked at this question similarly to question 1. The average was 50.842 which is not 4/3rds of 50 like number 1 was 2/3rds of 50. That observation is quite interesting seeing how the average was not the same relatively. Thus, the answer to number 7 is 67.789. Two participants managed to guess this number exactly and two guessed 66.

8. Attempt to pick the average of number 6!

   Picking the average of someone’s confidence, I feel, can go three ways. You assume that you are dumber that everyone else, you assume you are smarter than everyone else, or you assume you are the same as everyone else. Thus, you pick a number higher, lower, or the same as your answer for number 6 respectively. Now, time for the answer. The average of number 6 was 1.947 while the average of number 8 was 2.743. That means everyone who guessed 2 got it correct which was 6 people.

By the way the answer to the question in the response to question 6 was a tie between 0 and 2.

Jesuit’s Lacrosse team has a stellar reputation throughout the state and nation, and the D2 team just proved this statement by winning the State Championship 7-3. From defying the odds to handing out cold revenge, Jesuit D2 Lacrosse is, once again, the state champion.

The season started as it always did, 0-0, so this was our chance to start anew and bring greatness to the team by practicing and winning. The first three games were on one weekend, with our team being split into two. One team played a great shutout game against Loyola, and the other team had an amazing win against St. Stanislaus in Gulfport, but had an unfortunate loss to Saint Paul’s afterward. After that crazy weekend, we had to make a new game plan and regroup as we were all going to be playing as one unit from now on. Our next opportunity to succeed was at Southside in Lafayette, where we had our first true win as a team, winning 3-12.

Then, tragedy struck. We got defeated by Rummel 6-9. However, we didn’t let this small defeat deter us from advancing our record to new heights. After this, we went on to both shut out Shaw and score well over twenty points on them. Next was our toughest matchup yet, Central High School in Baton Rouge. Fortunately, we did not succumb to their efforts and won 14-12. After that matchup, we played Holy Cross and Catholic, where we beat them 12-2 and 10-4, respectively.

Afterwards, it was time for the playoffs. The team went to Muss Bertolino in Kenner, where we had an excellent rematch against Saint Stanislaus. Then, we had an exhilarating rematch against Rummel, where we had to make a special game plan to lock down their top players. For one, Sean Weise led the defense by locking down their best offensive player, #17. Then, we had Nicolas Sintz lead the offensive ride by guarding their goalie. These two players combined helped flip the score into our favor for the semis, taking us to the championship with a final score of 9-6. Now, we have reached the game where you have to either go big or go home. We took this game in stride, but were late to the punch with Central striking first, but we followed up with our own score soon after. In the second quarter, we knew we needed to up the tempo. We eventually scored, but not after Central scored a goal of their own. The second half began. The first round of scoring only went up by one for both teams, but by the middle of the third quarter, Central’s players began to get tired. As a result, we notched up the score one by one, until we reached the final score of 7-3, winning the Championship game and bringing yet another trophy back to Carrolton and Banks under the name of Jesuit D2 Lacrosse.

Jesuit Sports Analysis Club’s Official Mock Draft — Top 10 Selections

With the NFL Draft coming up, the question on everyone’s mind is who will be drafted to what team. And while we don’t have an answer for every team, we can at least give you a reasonable guess for the top 10. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

1. Raiders: Fernando Mendoza — This is the pick that everyone has had written in stone since the order was announced. Mendoza will kick off a new era of the Raiders with new head coach Klint Kubiak. Hopefully this goes better than the last few Raiders first-round picks (Henry Ruggs, Darius Heyward-Bay, and JaMarcus Russell, to name a few).

2. Jets: Arvell Reese — It’s really between him and David Bailey — ceiling vs. production. I think the Jets lean toward Reese because they can develop him into a premier pass rusher and will take the risk of inconsistency.

3. Cardinals: David Bailey — With Reese off the board, Bailey goes to the Cardinals. It’s very tempting to go with Jeremiyah Love, but the Cardinals ranked near the bottom in sack production last year. New head coach Mike LaFleur can definitely fix that with this pick.

4. Titans: Jeremiyah Love — Cam Ward had almost no star WRs/RBs besides Tony Pollard and Calvin Ridley (who didn’t even play for the whole year) and Chimere Dike. They choose between Carnell Tate and Love, but end up taking Love in an effort to ensure that Cam Ward has at least one viable go-to player on offense.

5. Giants: Caleb Downs — New head coach John Harbaugh coached Hall of Famers Ed Reed and Ray Lewis. He tries to replicate that success by picking Caleb Downs and then someone else later down the line. Downs is a very talented player, but it is a risk to take a safety at #5 overall. The Giants take that risk in hopes of developing a franchise safety.

6. Browns: Francis Mauigoa — The Browns need all the help they can get on offense. I see them either taking Carnell Tate or Mauigoa. Mauigoa becomes the move and gives Pro Bowler Shedeur Sanders more blocking help.

7. Commanders: Carnell Tate — Much like the Browns, the Commanders also need offensive help. They end up taking Tate to go along with Terry McLaurin and give Jayden Daniels another go-to wide receiver.

8. Saints: Mansoor Delane — Alontae Taylor left in free agency, so the Saints pick his replacement. Delane was arguably the best CB in the nation last year, so the Saints snag him and place him next to Kool-Aid McKinstry to shore up that secondary.

9. Chiefs: Ruben Bain Jr. — The Chiefs! What are they doing here? They go with Bain and add to a D-line that already has Chris Jones. He will work under DC Steve Spagnuolo and develop into a productive pass rusher.

10. Giants: Sonny Styles — When we originally did this mock, the Bengals had this pick. Now that the trade happened, the Giants are here, and as mentioned before, they take another talented linebacker in Styles. He exploded at the combine, and Harbaugh will try to develop him into a Ray Lewis-type player. The Giants now have Downs and Styles in their defensive scheme — watch out, NFL.

Out of every album I have had the pleasure of reviewing, there is not one I have enjoyed as much as this. The 1443 collaborative album The Yellow Ducks Walking From the Pond While Quacking Loudly in the Springtime Under the Brightly Shining Sun in the Cool Breeze Beside the Flowers That the Bees Are Pollinating Because It’s Springtime and That’s What They Do Every Year at This Time in the Spring When Temperature Begins to Increase and Summer Is Near but Not Close Enough Yet Because We Still Have to Wait Until June 21st Approximately is an unbeatable work that is centuries ahead of its time in production, vocals, and style.

The opening track, “Honey the Bee,” tells the story of a young bee who was relentlessly bullied by the queen bee. At 98 minutes in length, it sets the scene for the next 43 hours of the record. Kris Jenner appears as a feature on the opera track “Easter Egg?” but forgets her lyrics halfway through (no clue why she didn’t redo it). Nonetheless, it is still a wonderful song.

The rest of the album contains mostly instrumental tracks, except for “Rain,” which includes two hours of artist Charli XCX repeating, “April showers bring May flowers.” She does, however, mess up one time, saying, “April flowers bring showers in May” (again, not sure why she didn’t redo it). The instrumentals are beautiful and very easy to get lost in. The album is cohesive, with every song containing duck quacking sounds and bagpipes at some point or another.

The final track, “When Summer Starts,” is… good. It’s probably my favorite. I think. Maybe not, though. It is really nice to listen to, and I am a huge fan of the violins, which are played by actual chickens. At only 42 minutes, it is the album’s shortest track and serves as a great conclusion.

Overall, this album is a wonderful work of art that could not be fully understood in its generation. It provides a great understanding of springtime for those who have not yet experienced it (like babies born in the summer). The album continues to serve as an inspiration for modern artists and is loved by music appreciators all across the world.

In a move that signals major growth for Catholic education in the city, Jesuit High School has announced the purchase of the nearby Loyola University campus, marking a significant expansion of its academic goals.

School officials confirmed that the acquisition, finalized earlier this month, will allow Jesuit to deal with the rising enrollment of recent years. Administrators say the new property will ensure the school can maintain its commitment to academic excellence while accommodating future generations of Blue Jays.

Both schools began with the founding of the College of the Immaculate Conception in 1847, before splitting into a distinct high school and college. Loyola relocated from downtown Baronne Street to uptown New Orleans, while Jesuit made the move to their mid-city location a century ago in 1926. Some have suggested the schools should attempt to merge once again under their former name.

The newly acquired university, located just minutes from Jesuit’s current Carrollton Avenue campus, includes multiple academic buildings and plenty of much-needed green space. Plans are already underway to renovate classrooms, expand science and technology labs, and create new gathering spaces for students.

Students and alumni have expressed excitement about the possibilities. Many hope the expansion will ease overcrowding and provide more opportunities for clubs, sports, and campus events. However, some questions remain about how the transition will unfold. School leaders have not yet released a full timeline for renovations or when students will begin using the new facilities.

Despite these uncertainties, the overall sentiment is optimistic. As Jesuit prepares to integrate the Loyola University campus into its operations, the expansion represents not just physical growth, but a renewed investment in the school’s mission of forming young men for others.

It’s official: Major League Baseball is expanding to New Orleans. The push for the team is gaining traction and generating excitement across the city, as officials, fans, and business leaders consider what a franchise could mean for the entire region’s future.

The league has cited its vibrant culture, tourism, and passionate sports community as reasons for this expansion. The city already supports successful professional teams like the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Pelicans. Advocates argue that baseball could thrive in a similar environment, and local leaders have pointed out the city’s strong tourism industry and central location along the Gulf Coast as advantages.

New Orleans’s first attempt at professional baseball was the New Orleans Pelicans, formed in 1887. They played off-and-on throughout the early 20th Century before folding in 1959. The Zephyrs formed in 1993 before becoming the Babycakes and eventually relocating to Wichita in 2019. The Shrine on Airline would be the obvious frontrunner for a stadium, but the city says it is open to a new location, potentially downtown.

Local enthusiasm has been overwhelming. Across the social media and throughout the city, fans have been rallying support, with fans envisioning team names, colors, and traditions unique to New Orleans. Possible names include the Nutrias, the Gators, and the Potholes.

As New Orleans joins the ranks of America’s baseball cities, it adds another chapter to its rich sports legacy. Fans hope there is a bright future for New Orleans baseball.

CARROLLTON & BANKS — The Campus of Jesuit High School is filled with rich history and beauty. One thing that could be seen as lacking, however, is “a tragic shortage of symbolic water features,” according to the most recent strategic plan survey. To further enrich the aesthetic status of our gorgeous campus, school officials with the help of the Sewage and Water Board built a brand-new water fountain outside of school. It is located on Palmyra across the street from the cafeteria. It has now been running for about two months.

Many fellow Jays and I have had the pleasure of viewing the install before and after school while walking to our cars. The fountain serves as a living metaphor for Magis, its waters ceaselessly rising toward the sky to remind us that our potential is never static. As the cascades catch the light, they symbolize the clarity and grace we seek in our studies, urging us to channel our talents toward a purpose far greater than ourselves. Every ripple is a quiet call to action, inspiring us to live out the Jesuit ideal of finding God in all things and dedicating every achievement to His greater glory. City leaders also noted that it “just looks really nice.”

A spokesperson for the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans added, “After the recent water main breaks, we felt it was important to remind the public that sometimes the water does, in fact, go where it’s supposed to. This fountain is a major step forward for both morale and public relations.”

Dhilan Chava 26’ — “I love taking sips from it before and after school.” (City officials later clarified that the fountain is “not necessarily intended for drinking, but remains fully operational.”)

At press time, the New Orleans City Council and Sewerage and Water Board were reportedly exploring additional improvements, including a second, slightly holier fountain and several unrelated boil water advisories.

The pattern is randomized at the start of each round. The game also includes a lot of contact relative to prior games. All these factors create a unique game, but since there is only one way to score teamwork is not as necessary. To talk about the bot, it is 18in x 18in roughly 30lbs bot. The bot has an automatic sorter, called a spindexer, a self-aiming turret, as well as a 12in intake for the artifacts. Also, our team number is 6448. This is the same number every year and Jesuit’s is the lowest number because we are the oldest team in the state starting in 2012.

The Blue Jays headed all the way to Denham Springs to compete in the First Tech Challenge Regional Championship. Every year, there are four tournaments, and six teams in each tournament can qualify for state. Jesuit qualified after the first qualifying tournament in December.

The day started out as usual, with the Jays winning their first three matches. The Jays would fail in matches four and five due to their partners’ broken robots. Yet the biggest match, match six, was upcoming, and the robotics team was not looking forward to it. They had to play the 5th and 7th-ranked teams, while their partner was the 15th-ranked team. However, the Jays incredibly managed to win the 2v1 and secured their spot as the 5th-ranked team. The team would finish the qualification matches 4–2.

In the drafting phase, teams select another team to create an alliance for the upcoming playoff matches. Jesuit would wind up getting the 4th pick and would pick the Circuit Breakers. Together, the alliance would breeze through the first match. They would then go on to upset the number one seeded alliance in their next match. After that, came the championship game. The Jays kept up with the number two seeded alliance but sadly lost. The loss was so close that if their alliance partner’s bot had moved about half an inch over. If the black robot’s white wheel in the back would have touched the tape, they would have won.

The tournament was not over, though. Each tournament consists of a robot game and a judging and outreach portion. The Jays would win the Inspire Award, the highest award. The Inspire Award is given to the team that does the most community work, shows the most sportsmanlike behavior, and helps the most teams. Some of the robotics team’s outreach events include setting up homemade robotics events in public libraries, mentoring one LEGO robotics team from St. Rita, mentoring two LEGO robotics teams from St. Catherine, and much more. The total time spent on all of this work is about 650 hours of unpaid volunteer work.

At the end of the tournament, points are added up from playoff performance, awards, and a ten-minute presentation to judges that each team completes. Jesuit would place first overall in the competition, winning the Regional Championship.

Super Krews are a highlight of anyone’s Mardi Gras season. From Endymion’s giant floats to Muses’s mystical shoe, there are many wonderous experiences and catches, but we need you to tell us what your favorite Super Krew is and why.

I decided on the classic “Charlie’s Original The Moon” and an order of boudin bites. The sandwich was dressed with ham, roast beef, provolone, Swiss, coleslaw, and Russian dressing on a muffuletta bun. I got the half, and it was pretty big. The sando was juicy, meaty, and cheesy in all the right ways. The bun held up very well and created an amazing base to tuck in all the delicious flavors.

The boudin bites were fried balls with cheese in the middle. Let me tell you—those things were bangin’. I’m a huge boudin fan, and these exceeded my expectations. The balls were small but full of flavor and cheese. I was thoroughly satisfied with my grub.

It came out to about $27, which felt like a lot until I realized how much food it was. It was enough for two people, and I finished the leftovers for dinner. Francesca was made by the same people who made Katie’s restaurant, which is easily one of my favorites in the city.

Despite this song winning every holiday season for the foreseeable future, other modern classics, such as Wham!’s “Last Christmas,” have garnered immense cultural relevance during the holiday season as well.

The 1963 album A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector is an iconic holiday project, featuring The Ronettes’ single “Sleigh Ride” as well as Darlene Love’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” which would later be rerecorded by Mariah Carey. Brenda Lee’s 1958 single “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” recorded when she was only thirteen years old, is another example of a modern holiday classic that reappears each December. The song’s fun, timeless sound continues to be loved by new generations each year.

Traditional carols, such as “O Holy Night,” also hold a special place in Christmas tradition. The carol “Silent Night” is the most recorded Christmas song in history, with over 137,000 known recordings, according to a 2017 article published for 106.5 WYRK by Liz Mantel. While beloved staples and traditional carols make up the bulk of popular Christmas music, new songs are becoming holiday essentials each year.

Despite being more recently released, Kelly Clarkson’s 2013 album Wrapped in Red and Michael Bublé’s 2011 album Christmas have firmly grounded themselves in holiday radio over the past few years. Even songs released less than ten years ago, such as Taylor Swift’s 2019 single “Christmas Tree Farm” or “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me?” (featuring Ariana Grande) from Kelly Clarkson’s 2021 holiday album, have become Christmastime necessities for many. From ancient carols to contemporary pop songs, Christmas music has survived the test of time, and it will forever remain one of the most defining parts of the holiday season.

Here is the catholic league Update:

1. Edna Karr remains in the Catholic League.

2. Warren Easton left the Catholic League and is now in the Jefferson Parish District.

3. Chalmette is now in the Catholic League.

There has been a shake-up in the Catholic League. With no change for Edna Karr, the biggest change involves Chalmette High. Chalmette will now be the only public, non-select school in the Catholic League, and the Owls are not happy. They are most concerned that they cannot draw students from outside their attendance zones, which will be a big disadvantage. Even though they submitted several appeals to remain in a Northshore district, Chalmette will join teams such as Edna Karr, Jesuit, and Rummel starting in the fall of 2026.

On the other hand, Warren Easton has only been in the Catholic League for 2 years and is now leaving. They will play for District 8-5A against teams such as Bonnabel, Riverdale, and Ben Franklin.

The Question is How will these teams adapt to their new Districts?

They come in many different sizes and can be found in many online and walk-in stores. The prices range from about $15-$45. You are even able to buy levitating speakers, but those will run you about $150. (

-An air cannon is a big plastic tube that is able to launch big gust of air. It is unbelievably cool and relatively cheap. A good brand is Airzooka. The air cannon costs around $20 and can be bought on amazon.

3. Perpetual Motion Machines ($20 - $50)

-A perpetual motion machine imitates a system where a ball constantly moves with seemingly no external input. These toys are easy to get lost in. These tend to be around $50 but can be as cheap as $20. Amazon and other online retailers should have these mesmerizing toys.

4. Balancing Statues ($12 - $20)

-Balancing statues come in many different forms and sizes. Some are meant to balance on various pillars while others are able to balance on your finger. This is a great trinket for your desk because it does not need any batteries. These dazzling displays cost around $15 and can be bought on most online retailers.

5. Plasma Globes ($20 - $30)

-You have probably seen one of these before. The globe that contains lightning-like lines that shoot all around until you place your fingers on the globe and all of a sudden you are Zeus controlling the weather. These globes can be found anywhere and go for an average of $25. You are even to buy accessories that glow when near the globe.

It’s finally playoff time in Louisiana. The Jays pulled off an impressive regular season win against Warren Easton to close out the season and head into the playoffs as the #17 seed against #16 McDonogh #35. Should the Jays win that game, they would head toward a rematch with Edna Karr. If the Jays want to win out this year, they will have to play the role of spoiler. Let’s check out some of the teams Jays would have to beat.

#1 Edna Karr - Ranked 10th nationally, Edna Karr has proven itself as number one in Louisiana by going 10-0, with impressive wins of 48-26 over John Curtis, a 35-14 win over Rummel, and a 42-21 win over St. Augustine. We will see if they can take home another state title this year.

#2 St. Augustine- This past week, St. Aug demolished John Curtis 55-28 with an offensive shocker. They were down 13-0, but then scored 48 unanswered points, demonstrating great dominance and resilience.
#3 Catholic (Baton Rouge) - They are ranked at number three because, from what we have seen so far, they appear to be a true state champion contender. They had a strong win against Destrehan, which has been dominating their division. But will they pull through?

#4 Ruston- Ruston has been having a dominating season so far and has had great wins over #8 Neville and #12 West Monroe. They lost to Alexandria but have shown a lot of talent on the field, so they clinched the 4 spots on the week’s list.

#5 John Curtis- John Curtis has some quality wins this season but has now lost two consecutive games to Edna Karr and Saint Aug, losing the games by a combined point total of 49 points. They still have a bye week for the first-round playoffs and could still find their way to victory this year.

The question is, will Jesuit pull off a shocker and be a State Title contender?

Waiver Wire Targets:

QB: Marcus Mariota: He is now the starter for the Commanders, and he has shown he can put up some points. He can pass and run and running Qb’s valuable in fantasy.

Joe Flacco: This is a no brainer for me. He threw for 470 YARDS. He has also put up 30 points more than once this season, and that is exceptional fantasy production.

RB: Kareem Hunt (Again): As I said last week, he is gaining a bigger role in this Chiefs offense. Although he is on a bye you should still add him to your roster.

WR: Demario Douglas: He will most likely be WR2 for some time since Keyshon Boutte is injured. He put up 100 yards on 4 catches and a touchdown. Definitely recommend picking him up the upside is great.

TE: Luke Musgrave: With Tucker Kraft heading to IR Musgrave will look to fill his big shoes. Musgrave has been great whenever he has started, and he is on a heavy passing team. Major Upside in the future for this young TE.

Defense: Bills: Do I even have to explain myself? They are playing the Dolphins.

Kicker: Will Reichard: Major upside on a team who beat the Lions. This offense has huge potential; it’s just if McCarthy can keep this momentum up.

Question of the week: Will Defenses Continue to Feel Rico Dowdle’s Wrath?

I have Rico Dowdle on my team, and I will tell you I certainly didn’t think he would be on my starting roster. I have never seen anything like this before. He was struggling on an explosive Dallas offense last year with a mediocre O-line, and now he is on a team that is even worse with an even more mediocre O-line. Now he is putting up 200 rushing yard games? With this week’s matchup against the Saints, I would definitely expect the Panthers to lean heavily on the run game. Start him this week for sure.

What the Saints need to do to get out of this deep hole:

Anyone who knows me knows that I have been a big time Mickey Loomis hater, and it is really coming out now that he is. Everybody blamed the Saints record on Dennis Allen last year, but I saw right through that. Ever since Brees left, the Saints have been in this constant loop of mediocre performance which has led to mediocre draft picks. Loomis is such a bad manager that he somehow let the Broncos get the better end of that trade with Sean Payton. Something that doesn’t make sense to me is why would you pick a QB in the second round and not start him? That’s just a waste of a pick. And how did they pass up on Jaxson Dart? I knew from the beginning he was a stud, and the Saints sold on that pick. Also why does Loomis think it is a good idea to pick a O-line men in the first round every year? It has done absolutely nothing for us. What we need is explosiveness. Not some Oline man. Also why did he trade Shaheed for a 4^th and a 5^th? He is worth a 3^rd at least. If this horrible management goes any further, Benson may have to fire him. We will see what happens against our division rival, the Panthers, this week.

The Jesuit Blue Jays finished the regular season with a bang in their 45–36 win over Warren Easton Thursday night in Tad Gormley Stadium. It was a cowboy-out; everyone had their camo, hats, and boots. The Gizzard was nowhere near its full potential but was loud and devoted.

The Jays made a big stop on the opening drive to get a turnover on downs. On the next drive, the Jays were about to punt, got a roughing-the-punter call, then drove the field to set up Gavin Palmisano to punch it into the end zone to make it 7–0. The Jays made another big stop in the red zone for a turnover on downs. Michael Cerruti popped a 50+ yard touchdown run to put us up 14–0. When it looked like we were about to punt again, Cerruti tucked it and got the first down. That turned into another Palmisano touchdown run to make it 21–0.

As time expired, Warren Easton got a touchdown to make it 21–7 at halftime. Taylor Norton threw a huge touchdown pass to start the second half to Roman Larre, 28–7. Manny Vandeway (I think that’s how you spell it) got in and powered the run game down the field to eventually toss it to Roman Larre for a touchdown, 35–7. A big hit caused the Eagles to fumble, and the Jays picked it up. Brock Prouet drove the pile over the goal line as the Jays went up 42–7.

Easton fought back to make the score 42–20 before Ethan Cabos blasted it through the uprights to make it 45–20. The game was pretty much over at this point, so some JV guys got to play, and the Eagles clawed back but still lost 45–36. This was a huge confidence boost for the Jays, especially on offense. It does help that Warren Easton was a very undisciplined team. There were at least two unsportsmanlike conduct flags on them for hitting guys way after the whistle. The craziest thing was that the guys who committed the penalties weren’t immediately taken out by their coach.

The Jays hope to bring this momentum to the playoffs and make a run for the title.

Of the many traditions associated with Halloween, horror movies stand out as both influential and controversial. Ask anyone for their thoughts on this genre, and they will probably respond with either a look of disgust or an almost sinister smile. According to public polls, Americans’ opinions on scary movies are split right down the middle: half for, half against. So how does the Jesuit student body compare? The Blue Jay takes a look at the buzz around horror.

Movies have had a significant effect on modern Halloween traditions. You’d be hard-pressed to go out tonight without spotting some likeness of a vampire, a werewolf, or a mummy. The typical depictions of these creatures mainly stem from old monster movies. If you turn on your TV this evening, you’re sure to find all kinds of horror flicks. Characters from films such as Halloween and It are popular for costumes. But, of course, horror movies also have their detractors. Some feel they are too gory or too disturbing, or that these films are limited and even lowbrow. I would argue that while some rely too much on shock value and intense violence, the genre works because it includes such a wide range of stories. It encompasses everything from slashers and ghost stories to gothic classics and psychological thrillers, so it’s fair to say there’s something for everybody.
